An anime adaptation produced by Pastel aired on TV Tokyo and Television Hokkaido from April 9, 1993, to April 1, 1994, totaling 52 episodes. The series captured the manga’s blend of action and comedy, introducing Yaiba’s adventures to a broader audience.
2025 Remake
A new anime adaptation titled Yaiba: Samurai Legend premiered on April 5, 2025, produced by Wit Studio. Directed by Takahiro Hasui with scripts by Touko Machida and character designs by Yoshimichi Kameda, the series features music composed by Yutaka Yamada and Yoshiaki Dewa. Minami Takayama reprises her role as Yaiba Kurogane. The opening theme is “Blade” by Blue Encount, and the ending theme is “Pineapple Tart” by Otoha. The series airs on NNS networks, including ytv and NTV, and is available for streaming on Netflix and Hulu.
📚 English Release
In October 2024, Viz Media announced the English licensing of the Yaiba manga, with the first volume scheduled for release in July 2025.
